Legal Advice for Archers

All archers should please take note of these important national and local laws:

1. All Englishmen over the age of 14 are to practise two or so hours of longbow a week, supervised by the local clergy.

2. In York, it is perfectly legal to shoot a Scotsman with a bow and arrow, except on a Sunday.

3. In Chester, you may shoot a Welsh person with bow and arrow only within the city walls after midnight.

4. In Hereford, within the Cathedral Close, you may not shoot a Welsh person with a longbow on a Sunday.

Please note that:
1. The average Englishman over the age of 14 would probably rather be down the pub and/or watching the box rather than messing about with a bent stick, and the local clergy probably have better things to do than look after a load of lager louts and couch potatoes.
2. We Celts still have to put up with at least six days of being used for target practice by upstart Saxon and Norman grockles (who can't hit the side of a barn from ten paces). We reserve the right to shoot back and steal your sheep in return!
